Well into their new term of our forest programme the tamariki headed out into their community with the purpose of exploring a new track! The tamariki have become increasingly inspired through interacting within this environment and this week got very close to the eels who appeared to be ready and waiting for their weekly feed, gnawing on the meat dangling from the tamariki string lines! They also found a large number of cascade shells that were well received and investigated by the rest of centre upon their return.
Through this weekly forest ritual, our tamariki have certainly developed such connectedness and confidence of their place within the Natural World and their community.
“Every opportunity to revisit a particular outdoor place is seen as a chance to deepen one’s knowledge and sense of connection.” – Wattchow & Brown (2012)
